Fishing thatfights back

A rod that bends the way physics says it should. Fish that run, sulk and throw the hook. Weather, seasons and a sun that sets where the real one would.

Inna is waiting at camp.

The prologue

You didn't choose the river. The river was what was left.

Baitcraft opens on painted screens before you ever make a cast — and the game earns every one of them.

  1. iThe city never sleeps, and it never hires. Glass towers, delivery drones, cars that drive themselves a world that finally learned to run without anyone in it.

  2. iiThen one Monday the screen answered for you. No meeting, no handshake just three words in red where fifteen years of work used to be.

  3. iiiA cardboard box, a badge that opens nothing, and a sunset you had never once stopped to watch. Everything you built, carried out in a single trip.

  4. ivBehind the wardrobe, under ten years of dust, something was waiting: your grandfather's rod, a landing net, and a box of hooks that still smelled of the river.

  5. vThe photographs came out with it. A boy on a bank at first light, holding a fish bigger than his own arms and laughing.

  6. viTwo hundred left in the account, one passport, and no return ticket. Either the cheapest mistake of your life, or the last honest job left on earth.

  7. viiThe engines pushed, the towers fell away, and somewhere far below the water was already waiting. Whatever comes next, you'll be the one holding the rod.

You won't be alone

Inna is already at camp

She has fished these banks longer than you've owned a rod, and she is unreasonably patient about it.

Feel that? That's not the current. Give it a second — let him take it properly.
  • 01Teaches on the waterYour first cast, your first bite, your first fish that got away — she talks you through all three on the bank, never in a menu.
  • 02Reads the bite for youUntil you can tell a nibble from a take yourself, she'll say when to strike and when to wait.
  • 03Then gets out of the wayThe lesson ends when you stop needing it. After that the bank is yours.

What's in the box

Built like a simulator. Plays like a game.

Nothing here is decoration. Every system feeds the moment the line goes tight.

i

Fights that pull back

Line tension, drag, rod load and fish fatigue are all modelled. A pike runs for the reeds. A wels catfish goes down and stays down. Reel too hard and you'll hear the line go.

ii

Species that behave like themselves

Sizes, weight-at-length curves, diets and spawning seasons come from the real fish. Bait matters because the species actually eats it.

iii

Waters all over Europe

Rivers, lakes, canals, reservoirs and deltas. Fly to a new country, pay for your stay, find out what the local water is hiding.

iv

A world on its own clock

Day and night follow the real solar angle where you're standing. Seasons turn, weather rolls through, and the fish notice before you do.

v

Tackle with consequences

Rods, reels, lines, hooks, floats, sinkers, lures and bait — every stat is wired into the cast, the bite and the fight. Cheap gear breaks.

vi

Read the bottom

Sweep an echo sounder for depth and structure, light the swim with a torch after dark, and drop the bait where the fish is holding.

vii

Earn your bank

Sell at market hours, buy at shop hours, watch the night rate double your bill. Silver, gold, rent on the good waters.

viii

Records worth keeping

A trophy shelf per species, a catch log, levels, and ranks that start at Worm Drowner and go up from there.
